Credit Bureau Dispute Contact Information

It can be very upsetting to find incorrect information in your credit reports. After all, this essentially means falsehoods are being broadcast about you that anyone with the right to look at credit reports can potentially see. Luckily the process for disputing mistaken bits of data is pretty straightforward. Often the best option is to visit the web page of the credit bureau that is listing the incorrect details. This method tends to be the quickest and easiest. The websites for the three major bureaus are:

equifax.com
experian.com
transunion.com

If you’d like to fill out a dispute form online, you can do so here:

Equifax

TransUnion

Experian

If you’d like to do a dispute by phone, the numbers for the credit bureaus are:

Equifax: 888-378-4329
Experian: 888-397-3742
TransUnion: 800-916-8800

Keep in mind that for both of the above ways of disputing, your dispute will go much more smoothly if you have copies of the credit reports with you that contain the error(s).

If you’d like to write a dispute letter and mail it to the credit bureaus to dispute an item, you can find the mailing addresses here:

Equifax
Equifax, Inc.
P.O. Box 740256
Atlanta, GA 30374-0256

TransUnion
TransUnion Consumer Solutions
P.O. Box 2000
Chester, PA 19022-2000

Experian
Experian
P.O. Box 4500
Allen, TX 75013

Remember, the credit bureaus don’t communicate with each other about disputes they receive, so if you have a similar error on multiple reports, you will need to contact each company separately.
